Everything in moderation, even hope

Marina Krakovsky writes in “Hope Can Be Worse Than Hopelessness” (NYTimes.com, Dec. 9, 2007) that hoping that a new hardship is temporary — instead of accepting its permanence and adapting — can decrease life satisfaction. You gotta know when to fold ’em.
